This video is of Kseniya Simonova depicting the invasion of the Ukraine by the Germans in World War 2. She does this to music in real-time with only sand and light. Its amazing.

I don’t have the words to describe how powerful this little six minute youtube video is. The best I can do is tell you that this is a documentary about the last minutes Jason Wood spent with his best friend Oden. Its shot incredibly well, but more than that, they are able to capture this mans life and the pain he experiences in doing what he feels has to be done. I normally try not to get too serious here, but this clip touched me. I have to tell you as someone who has had to say goodbye to his friend in this manner, it was probably the most difficult thing I ever had to do. There is a span of time during this act where you literally watch the life drain from their eyes. It is horrible to be a part of and something you can never forget. Our best friends deserve to be remembered and Jason has made sure that I as a complete stranger will remember his pal Oden.
The video is below. (YOU WILL CRY!)
A few months ago I came across the video promoting the “Society for Geek Advancement”. I didn’t link to it right away because to be honest I don’t think all of the people in the video can be called true geeks. Don’t get me wrong I really do respect some of them like Leo Laport, Wil Wheaton, Levar Burton, Justine Ezarik, Kevin Rose, and of course the Woz. I’m sure I’m forgetting many more. The problem is they seem to be confusing geek with hipster blogger. I’m not saying you can’t be both by any means, but with the exception of the ones I have mentioned there didn’t seem to be very many “true geeks” on that list. I’m not going to go into a long explanation about what a “true geek” is but most people know if they are, or at least know it when they see it. Any way, here is the video followed by another explaining “geek speak”. Enjoy.
This might be better quality than the youtube vid.
Last week was the official start of this years season of “So You Think You Can Dance”. The first episode was amazing. Some of the dancers are truly gifted but as with every season it really is a showcase of the choreography. This week was surprising because it was the first week and there were two really stand out performances. The first was my personal favorite. Jason and Caitlin danced a BollyWood number to the song Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire. Take a look:
Now most would say that the salsa dance at the end was the next best. Maybe it was, maybe I’m just a softy for Richard Marx songs and contemporary dance but I just kept replaying the routine by Ade and Melissa. Here it is:
Finally while I was shuffling through youtube I stumbled across one of my favorite performances of all time. Bryan Gaynor from Kennesaw GA. If you ever read this I just want you to know that I think you are an amazing talent. Here he is auditioning:
Yep, I think this year they should officially rename the show to: “Dancing with the Stars can SUCK IT!” On second thought Disney would probably take them to court and it would be a big mess. I will certainly be watching this season.
So I was browsing around the tubez today and I happen to stumble across the sad tale of Steve. Poor Steve, he knows his rights but “the man” just keeps putting him down. Fight the power Steve.
I don’t think its a secret but, I’m terrified of the dentist. Dentists and scorpions, two spieces that should be wiped from the face of the earth. I am a RABID anti-dentiete and proud of it. That all being said I think this kids trip to the dentist has produced some internet comic gold. He seems to be drunk as a skunk and god bless his father for recording his sons horrible ordeal so we can all laugh at it together. Now I present to you, a drunk 7 year old. Enjoy!
I made this for my wife. This way she can always have a memory of the good times.
Lyrics from the song:
Don’t ever feel
That you’re alone
I’ll never let you down
I’ll never leave you dry
Don’t fall apart
Don’t let it go
Carry the notion
Carry the notion back to me
Feeling the moment slip away
Feeling the moment slip away
Cause I’m just like you
