So there I was at 1 a.m. or so browsing justin.tv and I stumble on this girl playing air drums. Her technique was…impressive. Check it out:

Anyway, thats not the point of this post. So I figured this girl is certainly not afraid to look strange on video so I have got to check out her blog. I followed the links to her personal blog at heyitsrachel.com and found a very well put together site. It seemed to be much like the web version of Seinfeld, a show about “nothing”. What really got my attention was her post on March 8th about Superman Ice Cream.

This is the ice cream I have been looking for since I was a kid. I remember having it a few times at our local shopping mall when I was little. I want to say I was probably 5 or 6 years old at the time. Then the ice cream shop in the mall closed and out of sight out of mind…until now. The second she held up that cup of ice cream in the video I saw those colors and memories of flavors I had forgotten ages ago came flooding back. I unfortunately don’t have a TCBY close to my home but this weekend I will make it a personal quest to find one. I just hope the real thing stands up to my newly resurrected memories of it.

• Just installed rocketdock, I didn’t think I would like it but it’s very useful. Still wish microsoft would incorporate some kind of dock. #
• Still can’t decide between a live stream or an updating webcam for my site. Wife votes live because she likes to spy on me. #
• At work, I’d rather be blogging #

Thats right FOR THE WIN! I know that sounds unbelievably stupid to most of you considering its the digital equivalent of an evolutionary dead end. Whats going to sound even more strange is I didn’t buy a player until I was positive the format was good and dead. I waited patiently for Toshiba to sign the death certificate and then and only then I jumped on it like a necrophiliac in a morgue.

I had been watching the xbox360 add-on HD-DVD drive for quite some time. I watched it spiral in price for a while before making the jump:

• $200 “NAH!”
• $170 “Hmmm, very interesting”
• $80 “Oh my gosh it’s so close I can taste it”
• $50 “BINGO!!!”

So there I was walking out of Best Buy carrying an HD player that I paid a grand total of $30 for, thanks to my Reward Zone coupons. What did I do next? Headed straight for Hollywood Video. I was just going in to rent some HD movies but they were running a 2 for $20 sale on all HD-DVDs. So I ended up walking out of there with quite the collection.

The really great thing about Microsoft’s little add-on drive is that it can connect to a computer. Here is where the WIN part of my outlandish HD-DVD FTW statement came from. I buy the HD-DVDs for cheap, some are as low as $9 online now. I rip them to my computer using the add-on drive. I can view them here on my computer or stream them through my network. Now I just wait until Blu-Ray burners drop in price. Once they do then I burn my ripped copies back to disk, this time its a Blu-Ray and I avoid having to re-buy my collection of HD movies.

• Just got the wife to give me a hair cut. Shes actually getting pretty good at it. #
• Bought new curtains. Mine are dark red. Just my style. Now I have to paint the walls black and all will be well. #
• installing a speaker system for my lovely wife. #

I finally settled on this theme for the site about a week ago. Since then I’ve been debating with myself whether or not to include ads on the site. I went around and around the subject for days and finally decided to pull the trigger. I dusted off the old adsense account I’ve had for years and found a few ads I could be happy with and that was it. Do I feel dirty about selling my personal site like a two dollar hooker to the “man”? Kind of…but not really dirty like the Crying Game shower scene but I’m still feeling pretty unclean about it. If you would like to help me absolve my sin then click the object of my disdain on the right and get me one step closer to a new webcam or something. Anyway I’m pretty sure money DOES buy happiness.
